The Nicholas Wozniak Foundation would like to introduce and recognize one of our newest athletes, Sydney Denmon. Sixteen-year-old Sydney made her debut with the St. Johns Splash swim team this summer and proved to be a shining star. While Sydney came to the team with a good base knowledge of swimming, she made vast improvements as the season progressed. Her willingness to learn new strokes and work on improving her times was impressive to both the coaches and her fellow athletes.

Sydney says the best thing about competing with the Special Olympics is, “that everyone encourages and helps you work to get better and there are no favorites”.

When Sydney is not swimming with the St. Johns Splash, she attends St. Johns Technical High School, which is a small school in her hometown of St. Augustine, Florida that focuses on preparing students for the adult world. Sydney aspires to be a photographer when she is finished with school and is inspired by people who are not afraid to be themselves.

Outside of school and sports, Sydney spends time with her cat “Tonka”, loves shopping, going to the beach, eating Chinese food and going to the movies with friends. Through her church she helps teach preschool children and goes on mission trips with her youth group.

Sydney feels that it is important to be involved and help when you can so she plans to stay active with the Nicholas Wozniak Foundation going forward.

The Nicholas Wozniak Foundation encourages you to support and follow Sydney as she continues on her journey to reach her goals.
