The Nicholas Wozniak Foundation would like to recognize and feature Kyle Fulford for his accomplishments on the field of competition as well as his involvement in the community.  Kyle came to the Wozniak Foundation through his participation with the Special Olympics. He is a three-sport athlete that competes in swimming, basketball and track and field. In 2013 Kyle was awarded the Special Olympics of Florida's "Most Inspirational Athlete" Award, which recognized both his physical and social accomplishments.
Kyle is a leader to his peers on and off the field. When asked what he hoped to accomplish by participating with the Nicholas Wozniak Foundation, Kyle said that, his mission is to educate others in the community that, "life with a  disability may be difficult, but anything is possible when you believe."
Kyle says his favorite part of being involved in sports is, "leading by example. encouraging others and motivating his teammates to always do their best."  Kyle earned trips to the Special Olympics State Games in Orlando for both Track and Field and Swimming in 2013 and 2014 and hopes to return this year in swimming. His first step on the road comes August 8th at the Solomon Calhoun Center Pool where he will attempt to qualify for the Area Games that will be held in Duval County later in the month. If he is able to advance from the Area Games he will again find himself in a position to compete for the Gold in the State Games.
Kyle is the perfect example of a person who is able to overcome his disability in one area and utilize his ability in other areas to become a contributing member of the community.
One of Kyle's many accomplishments was earning his G.E.D., which he did in December of 2013. When Kyle is not being a leader on his sports teams he is busy working a part-time job with MVP Support Services. As an employee of MVP Kyle provides transportation to and from work for other people with disabilities in St. Johns County.
The Nicholas Wozniak Foundation strongly encourages you to support and follow Kyle on his journey as he continues to do great things in our community.
